Improvement of Properties of an Insulated Wall for Refrigerated Trailer-Numerical and Experimental Study

In the paper, we report our research on improvement of thermal efficiency refrigerated trailers by modification their wall structure placing a layer phase change material inside them. The was carried out in field transport, meeting requirements all classes provided for ATP agreement trailers. As part research, formulated numerical model proposed design refrigerator walls, which subsequently validated comparing modeling results with experimental tests test bench designed specifically this purpose. Based simulation conditions, full-scale semi-trailer, numerically tested under conditions specified Agreement. proved that adding 6 mm SP-24 each walls cold store allows temperature trailer to be kept below −20 °C period 24 h without need supply from outside during operation. passive semi-trailer system implemented manner PCM reduction primary energy consumption up 86% 22 h. mentioned percentage did not take into account cooling material.
